Country: Argentina
Region: Mendoza
Appellation: Uco Valley
Grape Profile: Semillón is known for its rich texture, citrus fruit, honeyed notes, and savory complexity, often expressing lemon, apple, pear, floral notes, and chamomile. With age, it can develop fuller notes of toast, nuts, and honey, while retaining a firm structural backbone.
Region Profile: Paraje Altamira sits in the southern Uco Valley against the dramatic backdrop of the Andes. The vineyards contain sandy-loam topsoils over gravel and large stones, creating excellent drainage and a strong mineral signature. Combined with its 1,060-meter elevation and dramatic day/night temperature swings, these conditions help produce wines with concentration, naturally high acidity, and pronounced chalky tension.
Pair with: Seafood like mussels, scallops, crab and lobster. Richer white fish like roasted sea bass or halibut. Other white meats like poultry and pork. Vegetable dishes like asparagus and zucchini. Aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère.
