Villa Wolf Pinot Gris
Pale straw-yellow color with a generous nose showing pear, apple, peach, citrus, and subtle floral notes, with touches of almond, spice, and dusty minerality. The palate has flavors of spiced pear, peach, lemon, and orchard fruit, finishing with a lightly nutty, mineral edge. Villa Wolf is a historic Pfalz estate founded in 1756. After more than two centuries of prominence, the property was taken over in 1996 by Ernst Loosen, best known for Dr. Loosen in the Mosel. His goal was to restore the estate’s quality and reputation while producing accessible wines that clearly express traditional Pfalz varieties.

Grape Profile: Pinot Gris, also known as Grauburgunder in Germany, is a white grape variety that is a genetic mutation of the Pinot Noir grape. It produces wines that can vary significantly in style depending on the region and winemaking techniques, ranging from light and crisp to rich and full-bodied.
Region Profile: The Pfalz lies in southwestern Germany along the Rhine Valley and is one of the country’s warmest and driest wine regions. Protected by the Haardt Mountains, it receives relatively generous sunshine and allows grapes to reach full ripeness more consistently than in many cooler German regions. Soils are highly varied, but the overall climate favors wines with ripe fruit, broader texture, and balanced acidity.
