Triga Alicante
The wine pours an opaque garnet-purple and bursts with aromas of macerated black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, plum, licorice, spices, floral oils, and hints of tobacco and mocha. On the palate it’s dark fruits of blackberry and currant layered with orange peel, espresso, and savory herbs. Produced by Bodegas Volver (founded 2004 by Jorge Ordóñez, later led by Rafael Cañizares), their wines are crafted from old-vine plots. The grapes come from five vineyards, one of which was planted in 1925. The vineyards are located in the Sierra de Salinas, Umbria and La Sima.
