Domaine Montrose Solis Lumen Orange
Light copper-orange color. The nose offers orange peel, apricot, peach skin, lychee, dried flowers, and fragrant herbs, with touches of ginger, spice, and subtle earth. The palate delivers flavors of candied citrus, stone fruit, herbal tea, and spice. Solis Lumen is produced by Domaine Montrose, a family estate in the Languedoc near Pézenas, only a short distance from the Mediterranean. The Coste family has been making wine in southern France for generations. The name Solis Lumen translates roughly to “light of the sun,” a fitting reference to the bright, dry, sun-drenched conditions of southern France.

Grape Profile: Skin-contact white wines, commonly called orange wines, are made by fermenting white grapes with their skins. This process adds tannic grip, deeper color, and savory complexity. In this blend, Muscat Petits Grains is intensely aromatic and typically contributes orange blossom, rose, lychee, citrus, peach, apricot, and exotic spice. Grenache Gris contributes more subtle stone fruit, citrus, herbs, body, and mineral character, while also helping give the wine structure and freshness.
Region Profile: The Languedoc stretches across southern France along the Mediterranean and is one of the country's warmest, driest major wine regions. Long hours of sunshine encourage full ripening, while coastal winds and Mediterranean influence help moderate heat in many vineyard areas. Soils are extraordinarily varied, including limestone, clay, gravel, schist, and alluvial material.
Pair with: Middle Eastern cuisine. Roasted vegetables like asparagus and broccoli. Poultry and pork with strong herb and spice profiles. Hard cheeses and charcuterie. Fermented or umami-rich dishes like kimchi and sushi.
