Saint Cosme Côte-Rôtie

Intense ruby‑purple in the glass with vibrant aromas of blackberry, cherry, and plum alongside spicy black pepper and a touch of herbaceous notes. Flavors of dark fruit flavors, earthy-mineral undertones, and spice-laced hints of pepper. In the heart of the appellation Gigondas, the Château de Saint Cosme, a historic estate (and négociant arm) owned by the Barruol family. With its Gallo-Roman fermentation vats perfectly preserved, this site gives a good idea how their ancestors lived. The property has been in their family since 1490 and have been vignerons (growers) for 14 generations.

Grape Profile: Syrah typically features rich fruit flavors such as blackberry, plum, and blueberry. It often carries secondary notes of spices, black pepper, and sometimes smoked meat or olive-like savory elements. The use of oak in aging can introduce flavors of vanilla, toast, and coffee.

Region Profile: Côte‑Rôtie is one of the premier communes of the Northern Rhône, renowned for its steep, terraced vineyards on granite and schist slopes, mostly south‑facing to maximise sun exposure in a relatively cool climate. The climate features warm days moderated by cool nights, enabling full ripening with retained acidity and aromatic finesse.
