Pecchenino Dogliani Superiore Siri D'Jermu
Exhibiting intense ruby‐red color. On the nose you’ll discover aromas of blackberries, blueberries and red cherries, with mineral undertones and a subtle violet note. On the palate the wine is lively with dark and red berries complemented by a hint of pepper and crushed herbs. The Pecchenino winery has always been a family business. The first documents attesting the winemaking activity date back to the end of the 20th century. The reins of the company have passed from generation to generation.
Classification: DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita)
Grape Varietal: Dolcetto
Feature: Sustainable, Organic, Single Vineyard
Country: Italy
Region: Piedmont
Appellation: Dogliani
Grape Profile: Dolcetto shows bright dark berry fruits (blueberry, blackberry, cherry), florality (violet), herbal/spice notes (wild herbs, pepper), and a mineral backbone (wet stone, limestone). Tannins are soft but sufficient, and acidity is fresh, giving the wine balance and vitality rather than weighty extraction.
Region Profile: The Dogliani Superiore zone lies in the Langhe hills of northern Piedmont. Vineyards here benefit from a moderately continental climate (warm summers, cool nights) and the soils are often calcareous‑clay or silt‑loam, with good drainage and elevated exposure. The Dogliani DOCG (and its “Superiore” variant) has a tradition of Dolcetto wines that are deeper, more structured and longer‑living than basic Dolcetto.
Pair with: Rich dishes like truffle risotto, tagliatelle with mushroom sauce, osso buco or braised meats. Aged cheeses like Parmesan, Pecorino, and Taleggio. Vegetarian dishes like eggplant Parmesan.
