Day Zinfandel Zinfandel Grist Vineyard Dry Creek Valley
The nose is vibrant and distinctly brambly, showing blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, and dark plum, accented by violet, graphite, black pepper, and wild herbs. Ripe fruit dominate the palate with notes of crushed berries, lavender, mineral earth, pepper, and savory spice. Day is the Zinfandel project of Ehren Jordan, the winemaker behind such amazing labels as Turley, Neyers, and Failla. He purchased a St. Helena property back in 2004. After a few years of pondering, he decided to plant Zinfandel grapes on the hillside, one of his early loves.

It can also have other flavors and aromas of black pepper, cloves, anise and earthy notes like dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, and tar. Sometimes the flavors can seem over-ripe.
Region Profile: Sonoma County, located in Northern California, is one of the most prestigious and diverse wine regions in the United States. Dry Creek Valley in northern Sonoma County is one of California's historic strongholds for Zinfandel. Warm, sunny days encourage full ripening, while Pacific influence entering through gaps in the coastal mountains provides cooling that helps maintain acidity.
