Château de Parenchère L'Equilibriste Bordeaux

Deep purple in color. Aromas are unusually fresh, fruit-forward, and supple expression of Bordeaux. The nose shows blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry, violet, peony, and a touch of licorice. The palate is rounded and juicy at the outset, with dark fruit, subtle floral and mineral tones. Château de Parenchère sits at the eastern edge of Bordeaux, near the border with the Dordogne, about 38 kilometers from Saint-Émilion. The estate’s origins date to the 16th century, and today it farms its vineyards organically on predominantly clay-limestone soils.

Grape Profile: Cabernet Franc is the defining grape here, contributing blackcurrant, raspberry, violet, herbs, graphite, and fine-grained tannin. Merlot adds plum, black cherry, softness, and mid-palate roundness, helping keep the wine generous and approachable. Malbec contributes dark color, blackberry, plum, violet, spice, and additional depth, while preserving the wine’s juicy character.

Region Profile: Bordeaux is one of the world’s great blending regions, traditionally built around Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The eastern side of the region, where Château de Parenchère is located, benefits from clay and limestone soils that are particularly well suited to Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The broader climate is maritime, with Atlantic influence moderating temperatures and creating relatively long growing seasons.
