Chateau de Saint Cosme Gigondas

A deep ruby-garnet wine with intense aromatics of blackberry, fig, plum compote, licorice, violet, and floral note with subtle smoke. Flavors of dark berries like black cherry and blackcurrant on the palate with savory herbs and subtle smoke. In the heart of the appellation Gigondas, the Château de Saint Cosme, a historic estate (and négociant arm) owned by the Barruol family. With its Gallo-Roman fermentation vats perfectly preserved, this site gives a good idea how their ancestors lived. The property has been in their family since 1490 and have been vignerons (growers) for 14 generations.

Region Profile: Gigondas lies in the Vaucluse department of Provence‑Alpes‑Côte d’Azur, in the southern Rhône Valley. Its vineyards stretch beneath the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains. It features a Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers tempered by the Mistral wind and cool nights.  Soils include limestone, marl, sand and alluvial terraces.
