Chateau de Ciffre Faugères

A deep ruby-color showcasing aromas of black cherry, plum and blackberry and notes of violet, black pepper, garrigue herbs, and licorice. A lovely red wine with ripe dark fruits on the palate, as well as hints of olive tapenade, cocoa, and smoky mineral notes. Château de Ciffre is the flagship estate of acclaimed winemaker Michel Rolland in the Faugères appellation of southern France. Situated in one of the Languedoc’s most distinctive terroirs, the estate focuses on expressing the character of its schist-rich soils through traditional Mediterranean varietals.

Region Profile: Faugères is one of the most distinctive appellations in the Languedoc, located in the foothills north of Béziers. The region is renowned for its schist soils, which retain heat while providing excellent drainage, producing wines with notable minerality and concentration. A warm Mediterranean climate, moderated by elevation and cooling winds,  allows grapes to achieve full ripeness while maintaining freshness.
